In the last decade Paterson Simons & Co. (Africa) Ltd. [PSAL] has seen a big change in attitudes to safety in West Africa: not only in terms of potential risk to life and limb but also in a recognition that well trained operators are more efficient and accidents can cause a huge disruption both in terms of equipment downtime as well as in terms of unbudgeted repair or replacement capital expenditure. Insurance companies have also become increasingly demanding in their need to see third party involvement in safety certification.
With this in mind PSAL offers a number of services. Where applicable these are to recognised international standards which are important when national standards in the region are often undefined or unclear. These services are all in addition to the standard operator and technical training that we would provide as a matter of course when commissioning a new crane, forklift, telehandler or reachstacker.
- Load testing by arrangement with customer (we have loadcells in stock and available in our workshops in Ghana)
- Annual certification for mobile or crawler cranes (all brands) as per ANSI B30.5 & CFR 1910.180 / 1926.550 and BS7121/LOLER
- Frequent and periodic inspections as per ANSI B30.5 and LOLER
- Lifting gear (chain sling, belt, shackle etc) frequent inspection and certification to ANSI B30.9 and LOLER
- Operator training & certification to ANSI B30.5 (crane, forklift, telehandler & reachstacker)
- Basic rigging & inspection training
- Site superintendent & managers crane awareness course
- Lift planning
- Repair and retrofit replacement of PAT Kruger load moment and safe load indicators
