At the end of June this year, students and staff from Cirencester Deer Park School in the UK spend 2 weeks in Woe, Ghana. The students visited local schools in Woe, helping with construction projects and teaching subjects like English, Science, and Art. Afternoons were spent engaging in sports and cultural lessons. The group also visited Cape Coast Castle, where they learned about its history and explored Kakum National Park’s canopy walk.

The trip concluded with an awards ceremony and a final celebration, with students reflecting on the profound experience and expressed gratitude for the lessons and joy they shared with the Ghanaian community. The group returned to Deer Park on July 13th, inspired and proud of their contributions.

From the Deer Park School teachers’ perspective, there was immense pride in seeing their students rise to the challenge of teaching local children and contributing to the school’s infrastructure. The experience also brought a deep appreciation for the resources that are often taken for granted.

The students remarked that the Ghanaian students were some of the happiest they had ever met, and their joy was contagious, with many students saying that they had never smiled or laughed so much on a trip. They felt that it was a remarkable and special experience.

Paterson Simons are proud to have added our support to this valuable experience for all involved!
