Did you know Konecranes’ origins trace back to 1910 with the founding of KONE Corporation, an electrical motor repair shop?
In 1933, Finland’s KONE Corporation began producing large Electric Overhead Traveling Cranes, initially serving customers in the pulp and paper and power industries.
By 1936, the company expanded its manufacturing to include Electric Wire Rope Hoists, with harbour cranes joining the product range in 1947.
During the 1950s, KONE entered the harbour crane market, seeing strong growth in this line as the post-war economy surged.
In 1988, KONE grouped its crane operations into the KONE Cranes Division, and from 1990 onward, intensified its focus on technical leadership.
KCI Konecranes was officially established on April 15, 1994, when KONE Corporation was listed on the Helsinki Stock Exchange.
In 2006, KCI Konecranes streamlined its global brand identity, dropping “KCI” from its name and launching the slogan *Lifting Businesses™,* underscoring its commitment to productivity-enhancing lifting solutions and services.
Over the years, Konecranes has grown primarily through organic expansion, supported by a strong record of acquisitions. Read further about Konecranes history here: https://www.konecranes.com/about/history
