Paterson Simons, West African heavy lifting equipment dealers, have launched a mobile app to assist their crane engineers to complete service reports in the field. Paterson Simons has a vast territory covering almost the full span of the West African region. The company provides heavy lifting equipment sales and service to over 100 port and mining customers across the region from Mauritania in the North to Cameroon in the South and including customers in landlocked Mali and Burkina Faso.
The company recently launched a mobile app, using software architecture from Device Magic, to improve the speed and coordination of field service reports, meaning that their service HQs in Accra and Takoradi, Ghana, Lome, Togo, Lagos, Nigeria and Brighton, UK have up-to-the-minute information to collate and communicate to customers. Once the mobile report is completed customers are able to review and can sign acceptance on the smartphone and can also have a copy emailed to them directly for hardcopy filing.
The launch of the new app is currently in a pilot phase, and is being used by select senior engineers. The system is currently being replicated with paper forms, until the system is entirely wrinkle free, at which point the company hopes to migrate its entire service report process to digital.
