Bright Korda, our new Group HSE Manager, joined Paterson Simons a few months ago.
In the short time that Bright has been at Paterson Simons, he has developed a new HSE Manual, HSE Policy, and other documentation in line with the ISO 45001 requirements for the group, a standardised reporting template to track HSE action plans across all subsidiaries, and has instituted a monthly HSE committee meeting for the Ghana operations to accommodate all sections to be in line with other subsidiaries.
Apart from work, Bright loves to spend time with family at home and on holiday trips away from home. He loves to watch football and shows like National Geographic!
‘’Paterson Simons has a unique work operation and structure across the group, and it offers me an opportunity to share my experience. I am excited about the HSE journey and objectives of the group, which are directly in line with what I wanted. What surprised me about Paterson Simons is the number of years (decades) the company has been in existence and still constantly gets better at what they do! The advice I would give to young engineers or technicians who want to progress in their role at Paterson Simons is to be good at what you do and be open to learning new things. I have always had a guiding principle and that is ‘do it right the first time’ – and I encourage all to adopt that since it improves efficiency. I like the immense commitment of the Board of Directors on the safety journey they want to embark on and the willingness of the team across all subsidiaries to achieve a common goal. My biggest motivation is to see that my colleagues at work go home happily without any form of injury. I see safety as a shared responsibility and people- centered and that drives me to always demand more!’’ – Bright Korda
