A few members of the Paterson Simons Brighton Head office team have recently excelled in their Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) exams!

The AAT Qualification is a practical, 3-year qualification which looks into both the functional side of accounting, in addition to how this interacts directly with the business environment.

The course specifically covers a vast array of accounting principles, business processes and ethics surrounding the workplace and those who complete will achieve a diploma in professional accounting and the opportunity to be recognised as an accounting technician under the AAT banner; an institution which is not only recognised internationally, but even provides exemptions to a variety of degrees and courses at over 30 Universities throughout the UK.

The course, on average, takes approximately 3-years to complete from start to finish, escalating in difficulty as the years progress, starting with the level 2 qualification which is equivalent to a GCSE and quickly ramping up to the equivalent of a QCF/ Diploma in level 4, which in total is recommended to take up to an eye watering 1600 hours of out of office study time to complete.

Despite this being a large undertaking, the candidates have been performing exceptionally well, and in some cases have even completed the qualification in record time.

Currently we have three candidates.

  • Aya Hezam, who is undertaking her second year after having achieved an overall distinction in level 2, receiving more than 90% in all exams taken to date.
  • Anxhela Karati, who is part way through her first year, having received distinction on her first exam; and,
  • Millie Colbran, who is in the process of starting her journey, with her first exam scheduled before the end of the month.

Rob Allison, Subsidiary Accounts Manager, has already completed his AAT qualifications with Paterson Simons and has since progressed further, currently working on completing the ACA qualification with The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), the equivalent of a masters’ degree.

Paterson Simons is very proud to be an official and accredited training provider, with a special thanks to Financial Director Steven Baker, who’s long standing reputation and extensive experience within the industry has enabled the company to train accountants up to the level of being fully chartered, the highest international recognition available to any accountant.

The team are motivated and are helping each other with their training, each step of the way.

Well done to all – we are proud of your fantastic results and wish you all the best throughout the rest of your journey!
