Silverdalens Mekaniska Verkstad (SMV), in English translates to ‘Silverdale Mechanical Workshop’.
SMV was founded in 1947. A change in the management team in 1994 led to the establishment of a new factory in Markaryd, Southern Sweden. A full new range of reach stackers, empty container handlers, and heavy forklifts was introduced.
In 2004, SMV became a business unit of Konecranes with the legal name Konecranes Lifttrucks AB. The SMV name lives on in all the model names of the Blue Range of the Konecranes premium lift truck brand.
