Pasico Ghana, a subsidiary of Paterson Simons, in the latter part of 2023 completed an installation of a 62T/15T Konecranes Overhead Crane (OHC) at Volta River Authority (VRA) thermal plant in Aboadze, Ghana.
This is the second Konecranes Overhead Crane we have installed at VRA Aboadze.
The first 62T/15T Konecranes Overhead Crane was installed at VRA in 2017.
To reduce shipping costs the crane was ‘spliced’ by Konecranes to enable containerised shipment and assembled on site by the Pasico team prior to lifting in position. The crane is rated for outdoor use above the thermal plant in a harsh coastal environment and will be used for lifting the +/- 50 ton rotors for maintenance and repairs, to offload containers and lift other heavy items as and when necessary.
Volta River Authority is the national hydro and thermal power producer In Ghana. The Takoradi office are the Headquarters of the Thermal plants, there are additional thermal plants in Tema.
In addition to the Konecranes Overhead Crane’s, throughout the years Paterson Simons has supplied forklifts, mobile hydraulic cranes and aftermarket support to Volta River Authority.
From the maintenance of process plants to the maintenance of mobile equipment in workshops, Paterson Simons sell and service fully rated heavy duty Konecranes industrial cranes that are engineered to deal with the heat and humidity of West and Central African mine and manufacturing sites.
Our overhead crane engineers are factory-trained and are experts in the commissioning and installation of overhead cranes. We also offer crane certification, overhead crane operator training and inspections across the West and Central African region.
Thank you to the team for this successful installation!
